Testing the Hypothesis Part 2

Who: The certain people that fall out of the boundary are those who have taller nose bridges, thus they do not really understand the problem of finding eyewear that doesn't fit right on the face. Those who fit the standard do fall out of the boundary, but again, every face is different, so some eyewear might not fit right even on someone who has a taller nose bridge. Those who also do not regularly wear eyewear fall out of the boundary. Since they do not have to worry about having to find good fitting eyewear, they do not have have this need.

What: This need to have eyewear that can fit can be identified as a different need when there is only a need for eyewear to look fashionable, rather than for just practical use. Of course, those who need the eyewear would get a style that most frames their face, but when those who do not need prescription glasses but buys them to look fashionable, then it doesn't become a need, but rather a want.

Why: The underlying cause of an outsider's need is different from the underlying need of someone inside the boundary because for outsider's, the eyewear will fit normally on their face. For someone within the boundary, they will have go through an extra step when it comes to eyewear shopping. Outsiders will just have to find eyewear that they look good in while those inside the boundary will first have to find eyewear that fits their face, and within the selection that fits their face, pick out a style that they look good in. Perfect eyewear is very limited and sometimes you won't be able to find something on the first try.

Inside the Boundary:
-Those with lower nose bridges and have a hard time finding eyewear that can fit their face properly and that looks good at the same time.
-The need is to have more eyewear brands provide a fit that works well for those who have loser nose bridges.
-The need exists because eyewear brands have constantly catered those who have taller nose bridges because they are seen as the standard here in the U.S. Having eyewear that also fit those who have lower nose bridges will then open up the brand's market, ultimately becoming a positive thing.

Outside the Boundary:
-Those outside the boundary are the ones who do not have a problem with finding eyewear that fit right on their face
-The need is not to have perfectly fitting eyewear, but rather they are found with the need to find eyewear that looks good on them.
-Since they don't particularly have this specific need, they do not have to worry about which eyewear brand to use as well. Certain styles will look good on them that will not look good on those with lower nose bridges and it is hard to find styles that both look good and fit right on the face.

  1. Hi Mia!
I found your post very enticing. It was very interesting to get someone else’s opinion on the idea who does not really have the immediate need. In addition, your post format was very nice. The only thing I would change would be to organize your inside and outside boundary in tables. Overall, great job, I could not have done it any better!
