Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No.2
Begin with alternative evaluation.
My business idea is to start a company that provides eye wear for those who have lower nose bridges and have a hard time finding good fitting eye wear in the market right now. For my customers, I believe that when they are looking for the perfect eye wear for them, they consider the style of the eye wear as important. I believe so because even if the eye wear is reasonably priced, but they do not like how it looks on them, they will not buy the product. Since this will be something that will be worn out where others can see, the style will have to be perfect for the customer to be confident in what they are wearing. In addition to the style, the fit would be the most important aspect to my customers. Considering my whole business is based off how eye wear will fit those who have a lower nose bridge, I hope that my customers will take advantage of this and find eye wear that fits them best.

How/where do they buy?
For my business, my customers will more likely buy in store. Since this is about buying a product that needs to be of right fit, customers should come in-person to try on the eye wear and make sure that they like both the fit and the style, but most importantly the fit. I wanted to accommodate those who have a lower nose bridge and create a product that will make them feel as though they are being thought of. As for paying for the product, I believe that my customers will either pay for it with cash or card, mostly card though considering that nowadays, everyone pays with a credit or debit card.

Post-purchase evaluation.
What matters most to my customers when they think back on the 'rightness' of the purchase is probably how long the product is able to last. Nobody wants to buy a product, have it break within a week and have to buy another one, especially eye wear, since it could be on the pricier side. Although I didn't state the quality of the product being the most important to my customers, it is definitely a factor that helps them determine whether or not their purchase was a good idea. Another factor that could make them think they made the right purchase is if we were able to exceed their expectations on our product. They might have expected my product to be mediocre and just simple eye wear, but in fact, since we want to accommodate our customers as best as we can, we make sure that the fit of each eye wear fits perfectly. And if we were not able to exceed or even meet their expectations, then this will cause them to think that their purchase was a bad idea.

Report the findings.
The people that I interviewed all agreed that when they consider buying eyewear, they feel as though the fit and the style are most important. One of them mentioned that the quality is important in the long-term but it isn't something that is the deciding factor of whether or not they will purchase the product. All three interviewees had also agreed that, especially in this day and age, they are most likely going to purchase with a card rather than cash. But instead of going online to purchase the eyewear, they are more likely going to purchase the product in person because they rather try on eyewear to see if the fit and style works for them before they purchase it.

Draw conclusions.
Based on the segment and what I learned in the interviews, I would describe this segment as very thorough in their purchase behavior. Since the eyewear has to fit them well for them to buy it, they would have to make sure that what they are buying is the right purchase for them and they would have to consider all options before choosing the right fit and style of eyewear that they want to purchase.

Hi Mia,
ReplyDeleteOnce again you have amazed me with another great post! I really liked how you added subtitles to each section. I found it interesting how all of the three people you interviewed agreed that the fit and the style were the most important thing they look for when it comes to eyewear. With that being said, I thought your conclusion was very nice.
Hi Mia, I really like your business concept. I think there is a market for this, as many rely on their glasses, and I know from experience that ill-fitting eye wear is extremely uncomfortable and annoying. I think another thing that you can add is a prescription sunglasses line, and all sorts of ways to customize glasses so that the person is truly attached to their glasses. Cool idea!
ReplyDeleteYour business concept is very well thought out and has the potential to create much success in the real world. I do agree, however, that the best way of purchasing this is in person to avoid purchasing the wrong size and regretting it down the road. The right fit and style does make a huge difference in customer satisfaction and reputation in the long run.
